New Noise Ordinance – effective 07/12/2025
The noise ordinance being replaced was from 1970, much of the language was outdated or unenforceable.
The new noise ordinance sets the “hours of quiet” to be 11 pm to 7 am.
The ordinance lists exemptions from the noise ordinance:
- lawful government activities
- legal fireworks displays (think professional community displays)
- emergency construction & emergency sound alerts (think sirens)
- yard work equipment/machinery between 7 am and 11 pm
- athletic activities on school or public park property
- snow plows & garbage/recycling pick up vehicles
- HVAC equipment installed within codes
- farm activities protected by the Right to Farm Act
- any activity/event that receives a permit for a temporary exemption

Amended/Updated Anti-Blight Ordinance – effective 07/12/2025
The ordinance was amended to address outdoor storage of junk vehicles and junk recreational vehicles and to clarify enforcement procedures to comply with the Municipal Civil Infraction Ordinance.
